SILVERTHORNE - After seven hours of testimony, discussion and presentations, the Silverthorne Town Council voted 4-2 to approve the final site plan for a Lowe's Home-Improvement Warehouse at the corner of Buffalo Mountain Drive and Wildernest Road.

KEYSTONE - Coaches and players were ducking for cover as the rain pelted the scoring area at Keystone Ranch Golf Course on Wednesday. It was cold and wet and not at all like a good day for golf in Summit County.

The Blue River Watershed Group will conduct a field trip to the Peru Creek area and the Keystone Science School Friday, Sept. 10, for local Rotarians and other interested parties. The trip will provide information on several proposed mine-remediation projects. Attendees will get a chance to see the Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the Silver Spoon mines. FRISCO - A big fan of German brews, owner Scott Pohlman recently created a beer garden and sausage eatery, Prost, on Main Street in Frisco. It opened last Friday.
"It looks like a beer hall," Pohlman said of his location found next to Tuscato on Main Street. "I wanted to bring something different to Frisco."

SUMMIT COUNTY - Local voters will have a fairly long ballot to fill out this November, so Summit County Clerk Kathy Neel is encouraging citizens to take advantage of the vote-by-mail option.
"People can take their time and vote at home, rather than being rushed at the ballot box," Neel said.
