AVON - A drunken dispute over puppies may have resulted in assault charges for two roommates, according to an Avon police report.
At about 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 27, police received a call about a disturbance in an apartment on West Beaver Creek Boulevard.
When officers walked into the apartment, they saw blood in the hallway, along with a big chunk of hair on the floor, the report said. Blood also appeared to be splattered on the walls and floor of the laundry room, the report said.

Judge OKs sale of Freedom's Phoenix-area papers
MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Freedom Communication's sale of the East Valley Tribune in Mesa and the Daily Sun-News in Sun City to a Colorado-based media company was approved Tuesday by a federal bankruptcy court judge in Delaware.
The $2 million deal between Freedom and 1013 Communications Group is expected to close next month. The buyer is a partnership of Boulder, Colo.-based Thirteenth Street Media and Reno, Nev.-based 10K Investments LLC.
Randy Miller, president and owner of Thirteen Street Media, will serve as publisher and run the daily operations.

Rockslide: Eagle Co officials looking again at emergency route
EAGLE COUNTY - Brad Higgins has been wary of Glenwood Canyon since Interstate 70 opened all four lanes through it more than 16 years ago. It didn't help matters when Higgins' truck was hit by a falling rock in the canyon last week.
Higgins, the director of the Eagle County Road and Bridge Department, is a believer in creating an emergency detour route to the canyon over Cottonwood Pass. But he also knows, perhaps better than anyone else, what a project like that might mean in the long run.

Man accused in Breckenridge stabbing incident mulls plea deal
BRECKENRIDGE - Steven H. Carter - the man accused of stabbing a woman before turning the 12-inch kitchen knife on himself last November - asked for more time to decide on an offered plea deal Monday. Carter now has until March 22 to file motions on how he wants to proceed.
Carter, 31, has been incarcerated in Summit County Jail since he was released from the hospital. He and a 44-year-old woman were found unconscious in a pool of blood outside a residence in Illinois Gulch near Breckenridge on Nov. 25.
